A few weeks ago I was reminded of the fragility and impermanence of our existence here on earth. The wildfires and subsequent evacuation abrasively shook me and re-woke me up to some truths. Material comforts can be gone in an instant. Take care of your family and friends. Also, while wildfires are a part of the natural cycle, fires of this magnitude and ferocity were caused by human-created climate change. Any chance of prolonging our stay here as a species depends on us to act dramatically to stop the snowballing of global warming. It’s really now or never.
